Customer Evaluations

I definitely can't say adequate excellent points about this particular freezer. We essentially have two of these in our house and will soon be adding one more. (Extra about that later). Right off the top although I want to tell you that when you look at the shipping charges on this model and the asking price here, you can quite possibly do a lot greater if you shop for locally. If you have a truck or larger SUV you can without difficulty carry this thing house and steer clear of delivery charges. Anyway...
We went the route of manual defrost as we have had automatic defrosting units in the past and to be pretty frank, they, the automatic defrosting units will result in a substantial rise in your electric bill. With these smaller units we have identified that total defrosting is fairly avoidable if you merely take a good and sturdy plastic scraper (like the 1 you use on your vehicle windshield in the winder) and preserve the frost build-up down every few weeks are so then the chore of absolutely emptying your unit is kept to a minimal. We have located that when ever 18 months or so is pretty sufficient.
These units are tremendously quiet and there is no situation with the motor/compressor continuously coming on. We have both of our freezers on our back porch next to an old refrigerator we preserve as a back-up and overflow unit. The reason we select to obtain and install two smaller units, rather than one particular significant chest unit, is that we located with the large chest unit we basically had as well significantly food wastage over the years. Food seems to get lost in these things and I for a single certainly hate digging believed bags and packages and freezer containers to find one particular smaller item...all the though risking frost bite.
We often have a huge garden and neither my wife nor I do any canning. This is a choice we created many years ago. All of our produce from the garden in correctly ready and then frozen. We also purchase in bulk and have located we save a tremendous amount of dollars in carrying out so. The presence of a sizeable or smaller dwelling freezer makes it achievable to capitalize on discounts on perishable foods. This we do regularly. The only drawback of this is the cost of a deep freezer. You can get one like this for under $300 and the annual energy expense varies, but is commonly somewhere around $50 a year. To break even, you happen to be going to need to be saving about $60-70 a year on your food fees. For our family, we can quite often save that considerably in a month due to our deep freezer. In between the flash-frozen vegetables purchased at a discount, the frozen casseroles prepared ahead of time, the breakfast burritos created at an incredibly affordable rate per burrito, the generate from our garden socked away for later, and countless other little issues, the deep freezer saves us revenue pretty much each and every single day.
Now a further purpose we have two of these freezers (and will soon be getting however a different) is that we maintain vegetables, of which we use a lot, in 1 and we maintain meat in a different. We order our meat in bulk, either at the local shop or very regularly we will buy a half-beet. And of course there are the fish we catch (I am only able to catch truly stupid fish, so we do not have that a number of fish in our freezer at a given time as general, as a tribe, fish are rather a bit brighter than I am).
We have been utilizing these units for well more than a year now and have had no problems what so ever. They do have a light on them that tells you they are running which we continually check. We did have a power outage last year that lasted for more than 24 hours (this was a true bummer), but dry ice took care of that predicament and we saved all of our food.
All in all these are excellent freezers and if you manage your shopping correctly, they will save you fairly a lot of funds. They are light adequate that my wife and I can move them from location to location (when empty) with no difficulty what so ever. We do not use the locking mechanism on our freezers as there is no way a raccoon can get the lid open and they are the only critter that would be interested in their contents other than our grandsons.

I ordered this freezer for my 87-year-old father who lives alone. He loves it and now he can order in bulk, have far more food on hand and go shopping much less quite often.

Buyer Reviews

I've had my freezer for about 48 hours now. It has tons of space, and it keeps things frozen pretty equally. The one factor that startled me was when I first plugged it in it was really loud. When it gets down to the perfect temp it is not as loud but it is some thing to consider about. Most freezers make noises, but there is hardly any shielding on this unit to dampen it. Place it in a corner and you'll be fine.
Also, there isn't a especially really good storage technique inside the fridge. You get two baskets at the leading that slide back and forth, and there's a modest seat above the coolant components, but other than that it is just a significant hole. If you have sizeable items like turkeys or roasts they'll fit in here effortlessly, but you will have to do some creative stacking to fill this up.
I also noticed the plug in the bottom which will make it very easy to defrost/clean, and there's a manage switch on the side to adjust the temperature.
It really is a terrific product, and I very advocate it. I reside in the middle of nowhere and I didn't want to take a 40 mile trip to the grocery shop when a week, so this was excellent for me. My only complaints were the noise and the storage which certainly are not that huge of a problem.

It seems to work well without the need of concerns over the past few months. Item arrived speedily. Amazon is a good vendor for this product.

GE FCM5SUWW 5.0 cu. Ft. Chest Freezer - White

GE FCM5SUWW 5.0 cu. Ft. Chest Freezer - White

Buyer Reviews

We bought the FCM5SUWW based on a trip to a local store and located out when we unpackaged ours that GE has pulled a rapid one. The model in the shop had the very same model number but when you appear at the actual freezer name plate on the back it has an added letter in the model number. The model we bought is the FCM5SUCWW and the display was model FCM5SUBWW a prior revision with the very same package model quantity. GE has revised the model numbers and left the base order model number in the generic form so they can adjust production at any time. The distinction among the 'B' and the 'C' model revision is the smaller vertical divider that is applied to hold items from falling off the internal step above the compressor. This is listed in the parts diagram for previous models and was eliminated in the 'C' and newer revisions. We wish we had this specifics prior to placing it in service as we had a further choice but food was thawing so we decided to maintain it.
Right after initial startup we noted the lid seal is not the greatest and leaks air so it tends to make up frost rapidly about the leading couple inches of the freezer. Soon after many emails back and forth we found GE's buyer service has no clue and they lastly recommended a service contact be created. If they provided a improved magnetic seal like the upright freezers this would by no means happen and be a wonderful product. Consumer service recommended to considerably humidity and to high of room temperature but it is in a 70 degree basement with 46% humidity it need to have no issues whta so ever. We cannot wait until it definitely has some humidity in the spring or summer.
FYI - do not count on replacing any parts on this model as most of them exceed the initial expense of the unit. GE client service created light of this reality but even the single wearable item like the lid seal requires the entire lid be replaced as the seal is not availible for invest in seperately a $141 expense. We only paid $159 for the complete unit.
Final comment: at the finish of the day yes - it does keep frozen food frozen (quietly) and yes - it is a nice hunting, small sized product. But the lid seal is a real situation and parts are not an option due to excessive price. We only hope it will final a couple of years just before the compressor fails due to the lid seal not sealing very nicely. GE will need to at least present an updated replacement seal rather of having to order a total lid. We also wish they included the divider as earlier revisions did. Shame on you GE !

The freezer chest looks tiny and does not take a lot of space. It maintains temperature and is incredibly convenient to use.
It is outstanding for a household of 4-6 individuals. Fits all my Costco purchases, quick for youngsters to open and pull out the pizza.
I would only change one factor in this chest: I would make the lid "slow-close".
Overall it is a superb item for the price tag.

Cobra CPI 2575 2500 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter

Cobra CPI 2575 2500 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter

Buyer Reviews

Beware of all those talking about failures of the inverter - 1 guy says that he returned his, considering that two 70Ah batteries could not power it to run a 1/two horsepower motor.
Well...guys, there are a handful of issues you desire to know about inverters ahead of acquiring a massive one...which does NOT directly substitute for a generator! The small ones are WAY Distinct than the big ones.
First off, at 2500-watts, you are pulling 200+ amps across the wire...so, unless you are hard-wired with some four/ solid-strand wire, you honestly want to go with DOUBLE 4-AWG strand wires...generally, obtain TWO sets of four-AWG jumper cables, and soon after you cut the ends off each, then run double-strand (each red AND black) of a total set to Each and every POST of the inverter...yes guys, that's a LOT of wire...and due to heat, I wouldn't run that extra than 5-6 feet!
Now...batteries...let's laugh at the guy attempting to get 1600 watts of batteries to run a 2500 watt inverter...and consider what you Truly Desire...for deep cycle batteries rated on the 20-Ah system, and rated at, say 500-Amps, then decide to purchase 6 of these and wire them in PARALLEL circuit to power the inverter. Yep...$600 in deep cycle batteries! Now, you have adequate batteries to power the inverter for 2-6 hours, depending on loading, before you will need to recharge your 6-battery bank. Strategy on a charger that can throw 50-100 amps into the charge...so your tiny $50 Schumacher charger is NOT going to charge this battery bank overnight! Attempt way more like a $300 charger to charge them in 12-hours...or, if you want solar, really good...you need to have to throw about 70-amps of charge into these for 12-hours solid...so that is $300-$500 in solar panels. Also note...batteries get weak after sufficient cycles...so pay consideration to your charge circuit...and a charging circuit MINDER is not a bad idea, either!
How do I know this? Considering that these are all the huge troubles encountered when I was a Director of Engineering for an RV Manufacturer...and when you get over 1500-Watts of inverter involved...you commence playing by a entire new set of rules! It is Significantly Cheaper to go with a 3000-watt generator, than to even Take into consideration receiving a 2500-watt inverter.
This is a decent inverter...but purchasing a single this large and not recognizing how to care for and maintain it, is like choosing a big chemistry set and giving it without supervision to your mischievous 12-year old...it is NOT a decent thought.

To all the folks who have challenges in receiving full or high wattage out of this or any other unit: you Need to have thick (4) and brief (3-4ft) 12v cables to your battery bank. Otherwise the inverter will be starved for present and result in the "low voltage protection" to kick in. Make sure your battery/ bank are up to the task as well.
This unit works amazing for me. I tested it with combination's of differing gear (electric chainsaw, power saw, A/C unit, refrigerator, electric heating unit). No complications for me. Do your homework ahead of giving out 1 star critiques persons...

Temperature Alert/Alarm for Freezer & Refrigerators

Temperature Alert/Alarm for Freezer & Refrigerators

Buyer Reviews

Product largely delivers on its promises. Having said that, a couple points render it pretty much ineffective.
The suction cup will not function in freezing temperatures, and fast loses its grip. And most annoyingly, the freezer alarm will sound if the freezer gets "too" cold!
I had planned on applying the device to sound an alarm if the chest freezer in my garage failed. But the alarm keeps sounding, telling me that my freezer is also cold! I take place to be glad that my freezer is at or below zero. I wanted an alarm that would tell me if the freezer failed. Not that my freezer was also cold. Ridiculous.

I bought this for a freezer we have in our basement. Whilst the thermometer works just as advertised, I come across that the alarm isn't loud adequate to be heard upstairs. I'll be keeping it, and hoping the freezer never ever goes out.
